Bikes for Books

East Range II Community School & Lewy’s Island Lodge #138 Bikes for Books Program:

Dear Parents,

Your student at East Range II has the opportunity to participate in a reading incentive program called “Bikes for Books” that is being sponsored by the local Masonic Lodge in Princeton with contributions from local area business and the school itself. This program gives each student that participates an opportunity to win a new Huffy bike and safety helmet. Just for reading!!

How the Program Works:
Each time a student reads a book during the scheduled reading period, he or she gets an entry form for a drawing for a new bike and helmet. On the entry form there is a place for the student to write a short review about the book, why they liked the book or not, or why someone might want to read it. The students get one entry form for every book they read, so the more they read, the more chances they have at winning a bike!

The Reading Period:
Only books that are read from February 13, through April 14 2015 will be allowed to qualify for the drawing of the bicycles.

The Participating Grades:
The school has decided, due to the small number of students in each grade, that grades will be grouped together in order to get as many students as possible participating during the scheduled reading period. The breakdown is as follows: K-2, 3-5, 6-8.

Number of Bicycles Awarded:
There will be one boys and one girls bike awarded to each group for a total of 6 bikes. (3 boys, 3 girls) Hopefully in the near future we may be able to award a boys & girls bike to each grade. This will depend on successful participation by students and fundraising by adults.

Drawing of Winners:
The Winners of the bicycles will be drawn at a school assembly during the month of April 2015.
