In 6, 7, & 8th grade science class, we have been learning about the invention process. Students worked in teams, and had to agree on a problem that they would like to solve. The groups did some research and then had to think of possible solutions to their problems. They then chose the best solution and designed their invention. They drew prototypes of their inventions, explained how their invention would be made, the materials that would be used, and how the invention would work. Each group then presented their designs to the class and answered questions about their problems and solutions. Some of the topics were: air pollution, swimming for amputees, a new type of security system, oil spills, and homework robot.
