Science in the Classroom

Mr. Murphy’s class has been working on a Maine tree and leaf identification project. The students have collected leaves from specific Maine trees, then pressed and cataloged them in binders. The results are quite stunning. Be sure to ask any sixth, seventh, or eighth graders you know to show off their collections.

Mrs. Murphy’s class has begun a unit on the Solar System. One of the first activities helped the students learn more about how mass and speed affect an object’s motion. If you had peeked in the classroom window, you might have thought they were playing with trucks! In reality, they were demonstrating a scientific fact: the more mass an object has, the more inertia it has.
