Dear Parents of Students in grades 3-8

Starting Tuesday, October 8, your son/daughter will be taking the New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) test.  Testing will continue through the next week or so.  All students in grades 3-8 will be tested in reading and math.  Grade 5 and grade 8 students will also be tested in writing.  We have discussed the test with each class, and I am sure all our students will do their best.

Classroom teachers will be administering the tests.

I have noticed that children who are well rested and well fed tend to do better on these kinds of tests.  I suggest that your son/daughter get plenty of sleep each night before testing, and that they eat a good breakfast.

All  grade 3-8 students in the State of Maine must take this test. Therefore, students who are absent will have to make up testing they have missed. It is very important that your child be here each day, as I believe they will do better if they test with their class.

We are encouraging each student to do his/her best. Your encouragement will help as well. If you have any questions, call me at school or at home.

Thank you,
Mr. Murphy
