Thursday’s nutrition event was a collaboration of East Range II School, University of Maine Extension, Eat Well Nutrition Education, Farm to School and Food Corps. Diane Beach, East Range II cook, prepared a Maine Harvest lunch with locally bought vegetables. Nancy LeClair presented nutrition education, Regina Grabrovac did apple tasting with a history lesson, and Dana Stevens conducted apple pressing/pasteurized cider.
All three ERII classes participated in each of the lessons. The cider, pressed fresh from local apples, was served with a hot lunch of chicken vegetable soup, hot yeast roll, and homemade apple crisp.
